Done, Done, Done

Check out the following from Dane Ortlund:

The Greatest Hindrance to the Gospel

HT: Tim Challies

Some time ago I mentioned that I had been asked by a magazine to submit an answer to this question: “What is the greatest hindrance to the gospel today?” Since the magazine has now been published, I can print the answer at my site. So here goes…

You know the oft-told story, I am sure. G.K. Chesterton, along with other prominent authors of his day, was asked by The Times to answer this question: “What’s Wrong with the World?” His answer was beautiful in its simplicity and brilliant in its profundity.

Dear Sirs,
I am.
Sincerely yours,
G. K. Chesterton

As I ponder the greatest hindrances to the gospel today, I can’t help but feel that Chesteron’s words are applicable to this question, too. And yet, at the same time, I feel as if they are wrong; dead wrong.

What This Blog is All About

Tim Keller, pastor of Redeemer Presbyterian Church in NYC, defines the gospel like this:

“You are more wicked and sinful than you could ever dare believe, but you are more loved and accepted than you could ever dare hope (through faith in Christ).”

For people like me who try to earn approval from both man and God and find themselves weary from the effort, I hope this site will serve to remind you of God’s unconditional love in Christ.  When we have placed our faith in the finished work of Jesus, God feels the same way about us as He does about His Son, whether we are doing really good or really bad.  He is satisfied, content, happy and so proud of you he could bust.

As I come across anything (books, Scripture, videos, stories, quotes, etc.) that illustrates gospel, I will try and post it here.  If you come across something that you think would remind us all of God’s grace in Christ, let me know.
